Parents, Day 1 is a wrap! Actually, Day 1 felt more like a 5 minute blur. After a brief meeting in the New Gym, we broke off into homerooms and began our 5th Grade Boot Camp.
We set up lockers, talked about changes at RCS, and got to know some interesting facts about each other. The biggest of these changes is our new, school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Plan (PBIS), The Warrior Way. There are also changes due to the State’s mandate for physical activity (5th Grade gets an extra 15 minutes of break time per day!). 🙂 In addition, there are some changes to the Dress Code. Administration will be talking about these changes at Open House on August 25th, 2016, from 4:30 – 6:30.
I only sent home a few papers today, and the rest will come home tomorrow. Look for:
- Emergency Form (front and back)
- Health Information Form
- Free/Reduced Lunch Form
- Lunch Menu
- Car-rider Pickup Sheet (blue)
Tomorrow we will send home the rest of the papers, set up binders, and go over the new Student Handbook. This is a full-size, white booklet and looks much different from the small, red on we used to have.
I was super impressed with my homeroom today and can’t wait until tomorrow!!!
